The only phobia I have is a fear of spiders. I was bitten by one years ago and my foot looked like a basketball. I do not run or anything when I see them. I used to shake out my blankets before I went to bed. I am over that which is a good thing.
As for the shyness part I really do not think it is a mental game. It can be somewhat but I think it has to do more with childhood experiences and a chemical imbalance. Some days I feel good I can go out and do whatever and other days I am nervous and can not make much eye contact. Not to the fact that it can be noticed. My friends have never said anything about it. |

Heights - I have a phobia to do with heights. I can't stand on a three step ladder without feeling like I'm going to fall off and break every bone in my body!
Spiders - Only one type, and Australian spider called a Huntsman that can grow the size of your hand, is hairy, and they have this freaky way of getting the whole eye contact thing going before they jump on you! I'm not scared of redback's which are poisonous, and not worried about the old Funnel Web, which is deadly. Huntsman's are totally harmless but they scare the bejeebies out me.
I also have another phobia which is far too embarrassing to confide!
My shyness though, it has been diagnosed as Social Anxiety and is far worse on some days and managable on others. I do what I have to do and I get home as quickly as possible. Yeah, sure, it's tough on the days I actually DO need to step outside my comfort zone and interact with people in the real world but on the other hand I have no desire to hit the bars or the clubs, party every weekend, or have a huge circle of friends. I guess if I set my mind to it I could beat the Social Anxiety, thing is I'm relatively happy being a loner and dare say I always will be a loner. I like the company of close friends, of which I can count on one hand, but I also like being alone.
Anyway - that's my phobias!
