I blush when I feel a particularly intense emotion; like if someone embarrasses me by saying something inappropriate or stupid. I also blush if I am upset or angry; sometimes it takes awhile for the color to leave my face and that only makes it more embarrassing. I remember one time, a male coworker was giving me grief and I had to go to the office to 'talk about the issue' with the (male) boss. THAT was quite embarrassing, because I had to tell him (the boss) that the coworker was making fun of my weight and had looked at my chest several times. I left the office with my cheeks burning... I will never forget that.

`Hello, Exene. I, too, have this condition from time to time. It was really bad when I was about 8- 29 or 30. It basically occurred if somebody stared at me (esp. girls), or if in some kind of situation where my adeptness was being tested. It could be reasoned that it's exponential of self-consciousness. As I got older & practiced honing what few social skills I have , this tendency has decreased.
I can surely relate to how tense the situation in telling your boss how this co-worker was behaving. Issues such as this are never easy to present, regardless of how tactful one is in presenting it, since the boss could have cited you as having an impairment in discerning between joking around and a legit case of harrassment. I certainly hope that things were resolved in a fair & civil fashion. Best O' Luck!

`Thanks, Timid Soul; yes, the issue at work was resolved because the guy in question wound up quitting. Funny enough, when I ran into him at a bus stop many months later, he commented on how 'good I looked' - because I had lost some weight by that time. Still, you remember certain things that happen to you, like this thing.

`What makes it worse is when other people recognise the blushing, then you feel you're face burning and think you're gonna pass out. Your heart starts beating so fast, you just want it all to end.

I do blush often esp when I'm in social gatherings or when talking to strangers. I'm more embarrass when someone may notice my red face. Now, I tried to stop blushing by learning to control breathing and to relax muscles during blushing.

I have done everything to Stop Blushing for a very long time now. I have tried eredicane, creams, medications, everything...Medications seemed to mask the symptoms but the side effects made me feel like a zombie. Hypnosis is really the only thing that has seemed to help me some. Oh and eliminating coffee and alcohol but not many people are able to do this.

`I've become a little bit terrified of blushing, it's like my face is telling people what I'm trying to hide and the more I try to hide it the worse it gets. I especially hate it when I start blushing over nothing, like 95% of me is calm, while 5% omg social interaction! and I start blushing in a situation which really doesn't warrant it.
