The thing that annoys and frustrates me is that I deal with people ok one to one but when it is more than that or a group situation my mouth seems to dry up and my head goes into shutdown mode. I then just want the ground to open up or to find the nearest exit or escape route.

`Is social phobia just an strong form of shyness? by the way most people speaking in a group feel more uptight/dry mouth/etc. I for one start to feel stupid. Here in California

`I guess it's different for anyone who has a certain degree of shyness. Before, one on one conversations will get me tongue-tied, especially if it's a guy. I stutter and mumble hehehehe. silly me. Since I met two of my bestfriends they've really helped me out and it doesn't scare me anymore. I feel more comfortable in a group 'coz one way or another, someone may mess up the things they're saying. It's more informal and casual for me. ;)

`I don't think anybody is as bad as I am. Everytime it comes to an oral presentation or just reading out loud my voice will SHAKE. it sounds like my crying and I can't control it. People would tell me it's not normal, It's been happening for years and it makes me just wanna be home school so i dont even have to worry about speaking in front of a big group. I feel like no one else has this problem. I feel like I don't make friends because of my shyness and social phobia.

`I think what holds me back in group conversations is I tend to believe in groupthink, so I am too careful about everything I say. I tend to think that if one person rejects my ideas then the whole group does as well.
