Just a geek I can never make a first move IRL, and it's always hard to begin a conversation with unknown people, because I'm never sure of what to say to them, unless it's a everyday situation, like in cafe or in shop, but even then I sometimes blurt out inappropriate phrases, like thanking somebody when there is nothing to thank them for.

I don't know how to do small talk: either I'm talking about something that interests me, or exchanging information, or discussing plans. I have no notion of how and when to make a compliment, and how to react to one.
