If I make friends on shy passions I will have achieved my goal. Anymore than that would be an unexpected pleasure.

I am a 57-year-old female, divorced for two and a half years following a long marriage. I have two adult daughters and I am a grandmother of seven. Being an introvert, it has been difficult for me to make new friends since I moved to a new town and found a new job following the dissolution of my marriage. I have many acquaintances and most of them consider themselves my friends but to me a friend is someone with whom you can share your innermost thoughts. Right now, no one falls into that category. As a general rule, I don't drink and I gave up smoking years ago. I'm still learning about being single and I'm discovering interests that I never realized I had in the years that I was raising a family. Trust is a very important quality to me in any relationship. I have a wide range of interests. I love the outdoors and I enjoy pets, children, gardening, conversation, antiques, surprising my friends with small acts of kindness like cooking a meal or sitting with their children for an afternoon if time allows. In other words, giving someone a break when they need one. I think I would enjoy camping and seeing more of this beautiful country but I've not had an opportunity to do a lot of that. I enjoy writing about topics that I feel strongly about like child-rearing, the environment. I don't like housework, mean people, dishonesty or people who deceive and play games in a relationship. People who love me tell me I'm intelligent, funny, quiet, strong, kind. People I work with say I'm shy, easygoing, serious. People who don't like me say I'm arrogant and self-involved. They're all right. It just depends on circumstances. One thing I would change about myself? I wouldn't hold on so tight when it's time to let go. One thing I wouldn't change?
