I'm currently studying philosophy, anthropology, and religion at the College of the Desert.

I suppose at first glance I'm a typical college student: frugal, short on sleep, and often studying.

The similarities end there, however. In practice, I'm somewhat of an eccentric. I'm a transhumanist (meaning that I believe technology should be used to its fullest possible extent to improve humanity, through any ethical means necessary), and yet I also greatly enjoy a "primitive" skillset, such as swordplay, archery, the atlatl, and soon, flintknapping. I know a lot about the desert I live in, and I'm not afraid to stop and eat an occasional plant I can identify as edible. I'm an atheist with a vested interest in theology. I'm fairly good at grasping tough concepts such as the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, but not good at all when it comes to complex social situations. And I most certainly am the very model of a modern Major-General.

Most importantly, one of my primary concerns in life is living virtuously. In all things, I try to remind myself to strive for arete, or excellence, and only by being excellent in all things can I truly live "the Good Life." This mode of thought is pretty much in line with my Ancient Greek comrades, with some minor modifications due to more modern philosophical influences and a few of my own unique eccentricities. I am by no means virtuous, or at least not nearly as much as I'm going to be, but that's kind of the idea: it's the struggle that counts.

Oh, and, of course, I'm incredibly shy. I can be un-shy if the situation is set up in a certain way (such as one that puts me into "lecture" mode, which I'm fairly good at), but other times I'm fairly quiet and reserved.
